Doing My Own Kydex

Since nobody makes magazine pouches for my Akdal, and it seems that nobody has kydex AR-10 or M1A mag pouches (which I thought might fit) in stock, I thought I’d try making my own.

I ordered a few sheets of Kydex as well as some other supplies from KnifeKits.com. Their prices are decent and from what I’ve heard, they’re quick to ship too. We’ll see!

Checking YouTube I found Kydex holster maker PhillyEDC and watched his 2-part DIY holster vid. He put a little more effort into his holster than I would for my mag pouches (I won’t fuss with belt loops, just bolt on an ELS fork). I might hydroprint on a carbon fiber pattern when it’s done, or leave it black to match my other ELS gear.

Cool. I wondered what was up when I saw that order come through.

Yep. Maybe I can make a DOH holster you actually like.

Funny. I had watched the same videos from PhillyEDC and my kydex came in today. :P Good luck. I’ll look forward to seeing your rig once it’s done.
